City of Portland Fiscal Year 2026-27 Proposed Budget ??Internal leadership and direction; outward executive communication?; collaboration with City, local, regional, State, and National leaders on relevant and connected emergency response topics. Equity Impacts While PF&R must maintain its core mission of providing emergency protection citywide, the bureau is committed to reviewing internal processes and frontline response based on available data to ensure issues relevant to specific communities can be identified and incorporated into strategic direction and bureau goals. PF&R's recruitment efforts are essential to ensuring that the bureau has a diverse work force that values equity and inclusion. The Chief's Office has been able to identify underserved populations in terms of employment opportunities within the fire service and work towards removing barriers and increasing access for these groups. The bureau has integrated equity training for firefighter recruits and newly promoted officers. The bureau has also updated its Training Academy curriculum to ensure training can be tailored to an individual recruit's needs, so all hired firefighters have an opportunity to succeed.
