The Equity Council is made up of staff representing each of the of the Housing Bureau's programs, with the purpose of identifying needs and resources and supporting all staff to develop, implement, and deliver equitable services and programs to Portland residents. City of Portland Fiscal Year 2026-27 Proposed Budget advises the Bureau Director, supports the Executive Leadership and Program Managers' coordination of equity work, and advances equitable access and outcomes citywide. ? Services The Portland Housing Bureau collects a range of data, including demographics and household composition. These data may be analyzed in myriad ways to better understand how the Housing Bureau is effectively delivering services and programs to Portlanders, including but not limited to Portlanders of Color and Portlanders with disabilities. Equity Impacts The City of Portland has affirmed and reaffirmed its commitment to equity and inclusion in numerous instances, including the adoption of the City's Core Values, the Portland Plan, and the Comprehensive Plan. The Portland Housing Bureau's work and proposed budget are aligned with the City of Portland's initiatives and values. The Housing Bureau Equity Council seeks a formal budget in order to advance equity through supporting bureau staff and leadership in their equity needs and understanding. In the current year, for example, Equity Council has allocated part of its budget to pay for trainings for staff, including: contracting the Fair Housing Bus Tour, purchasing books for book groups, and contracting training.
